The result of the discussion was: selective merge. – Fayenatic London 10:46, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Previously deleted per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2022 March 13#Category:21st-century activists, but my CSD G4 was objected to at User talk:WikiCleanerMan#Reverted CSD. Qwerfjkltalk 21:12, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • So below is the full nomination, which I support. I will tag the categories. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:32, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note to closer, if merged please also add this to WP:CFDWM for cleanup because after the merge many articles may end up both in the main activist category and in a subcategory by issue. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:32, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Macrocapelle's merge nominations of the activists' categories. As stated on my talk page and here, not one category should go under the microscope since the same argument against one should apply to the other existing cats since they have the same scope for articles. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 19:35, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Support Marcocapelle's merge nominations. — Qwerfjkltalk 20:55, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:50, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge, the Austrian Empire only existed in the 19th century, so there is no reason to split by century. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:23, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:50, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete, the Austrian Empire did not exist yet in the 18th century. The articles are already in more specific categories (e.g. Hungarian, Croatian). Marcocapelle (talk) 20:20, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support current category is ahistorical. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:26, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Question – I'd like to know the nominator's rationale for this, as s/he didn't provide any. The reason I ask is this: many, many categories start with the country first as an adjective (American, British, Japanese) rather than at the end as nouns (United States, United Kingdom, Japan). Is that the issue, or is it some naming convention specific to pizza? Senator2029 【talk】 07:36, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • The convention is to use an adjective for people and for culture (because culture may include culture exported to other countries), and of course anything that is specifically called with the adjective (like American pizza in the context that I mentioned above), but "in country" is used in almost every other case. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:51, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is the tyranny of demonyms. It blurs islands / nations / states. This imprecision is unnecessary and unencyclopedic. Down with this sort of thing. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:30, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: dual merge. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:54, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This is a small category with just three entries that I propose to merge with both parents, Category:Traffic collisions has only 29 members, including one of the three and Category:Lists of road transport incidents has just one other entry (and possibly should itself be merged, but I'm not proposing that as part of this nomination). Category:Link Light Rail[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:53, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Matches main article's renaming from a few years ago. "Light rail" is a descriptor and should not be capitalized. SounderBruce 08:48, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:55, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete per precedent, the parent Category:Ongoing conflicts was deleted after this discussion. Presumably WP:G8 applies here. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:44, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
