- I think so. As those existing categories have significant content after 1500, we would have to either split them to new medieval sub-cats e.g. Category:Medieval calligraphers of Arabic script and Category:Medieval Persian miniature painters, or copy a lot of the content into Category:Calligraphers of the medieval Islamic world (which already exists) and Category:Painters of the medieval Islamic world (rather than Category:Miniature painters of the medieval Islamic world). The first option might be challenged as non-notable intersections, so I think the latter would be better despite WP:OVERLAPCAT. – Fayenatic London 17:02, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
