Category:Art by animals[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: withdrawn. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:31, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: merge, not a clear distinction between the categories. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:58, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose -- Paintings of monkeys by human artists is utterly different from cases where a chimpanzee creates an artwork. Peterkingiron (talk) 19:07, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Merge (WP:NAC). DexDor (talk) 07:29, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Upmerge. Only contains one member, and terminology may not be an accurate description of the article; really, it's more about Wikipedia's inclusion criteria. Bsherr (talk) 18:47, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: dual merge. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 05:12, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Small category, unlikely to grow beyond a single article. TM 15:49, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Religious sanctuaries[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: manual merge and delete. I will list these for manual processing. – Fayenatic London 09:05, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: manually merge, this is largely a case of WP:SHAREDNAME, these are mostly churches, mosques etc. that happen to have "sanctuary" in the name. For some reason, quite a lot of Italian churches are called a "santuario". In other countries the amount of content is actually quite negligible. Also the designation "historical" (in the name of the second category in the list) does not add a lot, as notable religious buildings are usually old. Note: some of the content is already otherwise in the target categories, so it's not recommendable to have the merge implemented by the bot. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:09, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge. Agreed. Further, it looks to me, from checking a few, that historical does not mean former in this context, as perhaps it sometimes does. --Bsherr (talk) 18:55, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment -- Any amendment to what we have at present MUST be done manually: sanctuary has two distinct uses: Category:Sanctuaries (places of asylum) - either to avoid persecution or so that justice can be done when revenge is the norm OR a religious building or its most holy shrine. Rather than merging churches in Italy to Religious buildings in Italy, they should go into churches in Italy or a regional churches category. Peterkingiron (talk) 19:03, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Historical sanctuaries of Peru ought also to be dealt with under this nom. Peterkingiron (talk) 19:03, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge. MER-C 18:47, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This and the similar journalists category both contain the same single article. TM 04:24, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge. MER-C 18:46, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Also Category:American people of Sri Lankan descent. Splitting this small category by nationality does not make sense. There is no distinct Sri Lankan-American journalistic tradition that would justify it. TM 04:21, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Incorrigible Troll[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: keep. (non-admin closure) buidhe 01:32, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: As per the relevant SPI discussion, no Incorrigible Troll socks should be tagged per WP:DENY. Hence, I request deletion of this category and all its subpages. JavaHurricane 04:06, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Incorrigible Troll/Archive#24 August 2016. Sro23 made a suggestion that all socks should be blocked without tags per WP:DENY, and no socks were tagged after that. -- JavaHurricane 12:13, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Per WP:DENY. Also the suspected sockpuppets category probably should also be deleted if this one is. Sakura CarteletTalk 04:44, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Not further tagging doesn't mean undoing previous tagging or deleting the category containing the previous tagging. This dog is sleeping. Let it lie. --Bsherr (talk) 04:59, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. While I agree that the socks should not be routinely tagged, especially the obvious ones, I do not agree that this category is useless. In fact I have recently found it to be quite useful. -- zzuuzz (talk) 08:49, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
